Napier Port has lodged resource consent applications to Hawke's Bay Regional Council to construct a 350m wharf along the northern edge of its existing container terminal and to dredge a berth, swing basin and eventually to deepen the shipping channel.
The wharf will be long enough and deep enough to ensure the Port is ready and able to handle the predicted volume increases through the Port, and service any larger vessels projected to visit New Zealand.
The Port has undertaking 17 specialist investigations and has carried out pre-consultation with its stakeholders and the wider community to inform the development.
The applications are now being publically notified by Hawke's Bay Regional Council, before the applications are considered by independent commissioners.
We will keep this site updated with information about the project as it progresses.
